After digging some more old mags out from 1980 - 1986 I thought
it'd be a good idea to scan some of the adverts and reviews of the machines
of the day; all but maybe 2 or 3 of which are in the museum somewhere. Some
of the peripherals mentioned in the ads turned out to be pure vapourware, and
the Commodore ads are quite upbeat, considering that someone within CBM is reputed
to have said that if CBM were selling sushi they'd call it "cold, wet, dead
fish!"
Picture sizes range from around 19K to a whopping 300-odd for
the ZX80 advert, but most stay round the 50K mark so shouldn`t be too long on
an average download. I doubt there's any copyright infringement going on here
any more, but if I've trodden on someone's toes let me know :) All the reviews
are from either Personal Computer News (PCN) or Your Computer.
All respective trademarks are acknowledged. Entries marked with an H
have been provided by comp.sys.sinclair regular Hellraiser - cheers mate!
First update of 2003 comes from an ex-pat Brit called Graham Thornton
who now lives in the US. His scans are marked with a G, obviously
enough. Thanks Graham!
Next update comes courtesy of Mark Anderson whose entries are
marked MA. Cheers Mark!
First (*cough*) update of 2006 is from me after digging up even more old issues of Your Computer so that's where 99% of the latest adverts and reviews are from.
